Other Info | Of all the bands we hire, the Valse Café Orchestra plays the widest variety of music for dancing: swing, blues, cha-chas, foxtrots, waltzes of all tempos, rumbas, polkas — and everything from Dixieland to The Beatles. Because the ensemble blends trumpet, trombone, and saxophone with violin, clarinet and piano—and anchors it all with bass and percussion—it can go from sounding like a 40s-era big band, belting out a swing-tune classic in one moment, to a classy waltz orchestra the next. As an added bonus, popular jazz vocalist Dina Blade will front the orchestra for this special dance. Pre-dance lesson: Foxtrot Frolic with Guy Caridi and Nancy Fry Originating in the Ragtime era, Foxtrot allows you to gracefully and playfully travel around the dance floor. As one of the standards of partner dancing, it’s a dance that everyone should enjoy knowing. Time: lesson 7–8pm; dance 8–11pm Location: Leif Erickson Hall, 2245 NW 57th St, Seattle, 98107 Cost: $20 at the door—NO NEED TO SIGN UP IN ADVANCE! |
